Our Why
Across our community, people already see mental health as essential care, but many still struggle to find a hospital bed close to home when a crisis hits. Our purpose is to provide compassionate, effective, and inspiring care for individuals experiencing emotional distress, empowering each person to move forward toward a more stable, fulfilling life. Now that we’re moving forward, our focus is on permitting, renovation, hiring, and being a community resource throughout the process.
Essential care,
not extra care.
83% of Horry and Georgetown County residents say mental health care is as vital as heart or cancer care, and nearly 3 in 4 have a personal or close experience with treatment.
Too few local beds.
At times, Horry County is estimated to be up to 60% short of inpatient beds. Due to that reason and many more, the S.C. Department of Health has granted us a Certificate of Need for this facility.
ERs and first responders are stretched.
Patients in crisis often wait long hours in ERs or are transported out of the area when no beds are available nearby, tying up emergency teams and delaying care for others.
